View from the Leaf – Cloverleaf at AAIS Main Event: Milestones and Momentum

By Michael Schwabrow, EVP of Sales and Marketing for Cloverleaf Analytics
From seeing our custom Cloverleaf socks being worn on stage by another keynote speaker to hearing amazing insights shared by Robert Clark, Cloverleaf’s founder and CEO on a panel about open-source data, this is just the tip of the iceberg for how awesome this week’s event was!
Huge shoutout to Cory Isaacson, CEO of ReThought, and Werner Kruck, CEO of AAIS, who joined Robert Clark on the panel. Their session was a powerful discussion that really brought to life the spirit of innovation and openness this industry needs.

The AAIS Main Event proved to be a treasure trove of innovative thinking around the power of data and AI in insurance. I was particularly struck by conversations with customers who shared candid feedback about their approaches to using data in insurance underwriting and claims management.
But the biggest buzz was around two major milestones for Cloverleaf:
First, as we announced last week, AAIS officially selected Cloverleaf Analytics as their strategic partner for analytics solutions supporting data and actuarial services for AAIS’s Member carriers. This collaboration will help AAIS members leverage our Insurance Intelligence platform to extract actionable insights from their data and ultimately make better business decisions.
Earlier this week there was a second major announcement with the openIDL (open Insurance Data Link) establishing a Data Specifications Working Group. This represents another leap forward for our industry. And here’s the game-changer: Cloverleaf is donating its intellectual property—specifically, our comprehensive insurance data model to the openIDL initiative.
Sure, it might sound like just another industry announcement, but to us, it’s something more. It is Cloverleaf’s way of helping change how the insurance industry approaches data standardization. After a decade of refining our insurance data model to be one of the best in the business, we’re now sharing it with the entire insurance ecosystem. Talk about putting your money where your mouth is when it comes to open-source collaboration!
The second openIDL whitepaper released this week (A Future-Proof Standard for Insurance Data Interoperability) further cements the momentum gaining around open-source. Our IP donation demonstrates Cloverleaf’s commitment to raising all boats in the insurance analytics sea. Some might question giving away such valuable IP, but we see it differently. We passionately believe that when the industry operates on better data standards, the entire insurance ecosystem wins.
Lastly, have you seen our shiny new website yet?
Like trading in your trusty flip phone for the latest smartphone, our digital facelift reflects the exciting next chapter of Cloverleaf as we enter our 10th year. The site better showcases our evolving capabilities while staying true to our mission of making insurance data valuable for insurers and the insured.
As I reflect on this momentum, I can’t help but think we’re witnessing the insurance industry’s shift from being simply data-aware to being seriously data-driven, and Cloverleaf is helping navigate this journey from multiple fronts.
Here’s to what’s next! 🥂
